Iowa State University of Science and Technology has devised a system to make existing communications and information database applications available to user groups throughout urban and rural Iowa. The university will create a hub database server which will interconnect several statewide, fiber optic, information network projects with K-12 schools, public libraries, regional councils of government, local governments and chambers of commerce. The new system will be a more interoperable last mile delivery system for all networks in the state.

The St. Louis University School of Public Health, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Health Bureau of Immunization, and the St. Louis City and County Health Departments, proposes to develop the St. Louis Integrated Immunization Information System (SLIIIS) as part of a five-year plan to raise and maintain the immunization rates of children under age two. St. Louis would adopt the Missouri Immunization Information System with modifications tailoring it to local needs. The project objectives for the first year include providing all public health care providers of immunization to children under age two in St. Louis with on-line real-time access to immunization information and raising the immunization rate to 45% (from 38%).
