Trucking Logistics

Logistics is an international activity that involves the land, sea, or air transportation of people, equipment, or goods. It includes all the activities involved in moving raw materials to manufacturing facilities and the distribution of finished products to the consumer. These activities include purchasing, inventory control, material handling, production planning, packaging, warehousing, and transportation. Logistics also includes clerical/administrative, paraprofessional/technical, and supervisory/management jobs that plan, organize, and facilitate the activities mentioned above.
Logistics is an important, fast-growing part of all business and industry activities in Wisconsin and the global marketplace. Future demand for workers with logistics skills is expected to increase by 20 - 28% through 2005.
