System Integration

The National Logistics Group can establish a direct link to your systems using an Electronic Data Interface, or EDI. While EDI generally refers to a standard protocol, in reality each interface tends to be unique, and we will work with your specific requirements.

Proof of Delivery, or POD, provides a good example of the benefits that can be achieved through system integration. Typically when a delivery is completed, the driver enters your customer’s information and some other details about the delivery into a portable, wireless two way communications device. This information is routed by our system, and a POD is automatically sent to you by email. You must still match this to data to the customer information that you have in your system, and move it to the customer record.

Through an EDI, upon submission the detailed data from the POD could pass through right to your “transaction” system and be ported into the customer record. In this way, no human interaction is needed by the client to move the contents of the auto email POD above to the customer record. EDI also allows for the capture of additional details that might not otherwise be included in a POD.

EDI can also be used to update inventory. For example, a medical device manufacturer places an order in their system for refill supplies to be delivered to a home bound patient. Because our systems have been integrated, as soon as we remove the supplies from a forward location, the inventory information in the manufacturer’s system is automatically updated. Upon delivery to the patient, a POD can automatically be sent as noted above.
